Dinner at Fatty Crab

On Friday night FI and I went out to dinner at Fatty Crab. We had originally planned on going to Spotted Pig but there was a 2 hour wait at 10pm.

FI got a beer. I think he got it mostly for the name. :)

We got a prix fixe meal and a couple of other dishes. The 1st course of the prix fixe menu were lamb toast which was shredded lamb meat on cut slices of white bread. They were like little tea sandwiches but with savory and slightly spicy lamb meat and basil leaves in them.

Then we had the Fatty Duck, which was delicious. They steamed and fried the pieces of duck so the meat was super tender and the skin nice and crispy. The flavor combination of sweet and savory and a kick of pepper made it really fun to eat and enjoy. The fried rice under the duck was good too. It was good mixture of crunchy and soft (the parts that had been soaked by the duck sauce).

The 2nd course of the prix fixe meal were "pork bones". They were made of shredded pork and made into little square sticks and then breaded and fried. Kind of like mozzerella cheese sticks but with pork. We ate them with mustard.

This was a strange shot of something that we got from the kitchen. We're not sure what's in it, but it was super spicy. While I do enjoy some spiciness in my food, I'm not too fond of spiciness in my drinks. We didn't finish this.

We had a green mango salad that had green and yellow manago with little crunchy bits of something... , cilantro, limes, and red chilis. The dressing was chili flavored and super spicy and mouth numbing. We actually sent this one back and got one without the dressing. This one was much better.

The 3rd course of the prix fixe was a clam stew. They were little baby ones and very tasty. Accompanying the dish were little potato chips.

This was a tasty meal. Filling but not leaving us stuffed. They were out of their signature dish - the chili crab, so we'll have to try that next time.
